I can’t really write a proper Bio without first acknowledging my dad as the reason I am here. And it’s quite ironic in that when I was in my early 20s he gave me the combination to his safe, located at his coin store, and told me that if anything were ever to happen to him I was to step in and take over. He wanted so badly for one of his children to follow in his love for coins and silver bars. But I was just never interested. None of us were. 20 years later when he passed away, I gladly stepped into his place.
As most of you know, my dad is Duane Spellman, the co-founder of this amazing silver art bar club, the IASAC. Before the 1970s my dad owned a coin store in the Valley where he collected everything. He also worked at Rocketdyne and he sold cars. In 1974 he bought us a bigger house with a swimming pool; we all got brand new 10-speed bikes and he bought himself a few race horses. I wouldn’t find out until years later, when I was old enough to care, that he had been hired on by the United States Silver Corp to design all of their art bars—he got a raise. Those USSC bars from the 70s were all his creations.
I guess it was in the 1980s that he started his own art bar design company called The Mint…named after the coin store he owned for over 40 years. I started selling his coins and his art bars in 2002 after he died and I am still selling them. He would be so proud to see all of the Interest there is in his creative works of art. I know I am proud. It is because of the eBay site that I have met most of you. And it’s because of Steve Austin that I became a member of the club and took over my dad’s number 2. To me, he left a great legacy. From what I hear from you, you all feel the same way.
On a personal note, my name is Lacy Enderson and I am married to my third husband for 25 years. We have a blended family of five grown children (one lives in heaven) and 9 grandchildren. I have lived in Simi Valley, California my entire 59 years of life. I am a substitute school teacher. I worked as a dental assistant and a preschool teacher as well. I have two Master’s Degrees…both in theology. I am endorsed and ordained as a Chaplain. I do not collect anything, ha ha. What I do is I sell collectibles to other people who do collect and that makes me happy. And it makes me happy to know that you are all happy with what I have to sell to you. And sometimes I even know the answers to your questions about the silver bars that I sell. And that would make my dad happy, which in turn, makes us all happy.
